The herb contains bitterness, saponins of the triterpene group, organic acids (carbolic and phenolcarboxylic), pectin and tannins, phytosterols, lipids (حول 4.7%). Alfalfa flowers synthesize anthocyanins, cyanidin and its leucobase (leucocyanidin).
