“Luciano Italian Ceramic” has been producing high quality ceramics for almost seventy years, skillfully combining technical innovation and traditional craftsmanship. It was born from the dream of Luciano Sr. who in the 1950s founded “Creazioni Luciano”, a historic brand recognized internationally for its ability to creatively translate the iconographic heritage of Vietri ceramics. “Luciano” at first, in addition to the art ceramics and the production of costume jewelry, is dedicated to the creation of hand-decorated artistic fabrics, participates in the formation of “Positano fashion”, exhibits in the major sector exhibitions (SAMIA, MITAM ), and captures the attention of the well-known architect Gio Ponti who is interested in his fabrics. Ao mesmo tempo, after numerous experiments in the field of ceramics, “Luciano” invents his “relief technique” that recalls the Cloisonne of goldsmithery and the large artistic windows. The new artifacts, made using white clay, are characterized by a relief design capable of creating spaces in which the colored glass glazes are manually affixed and which are perfectly spread when cooked. This new technique involves ten stages of processing: – the realization of a smooth plaster mold; – the realization of a drawing of the subject; – the very important phase of the manual engraving to the negative using burins; – the shape in which the piece is formed by treading the clay in the grooves; – controlled drying; – finishing or smoothing; – the first baking or biscuit at 1050 graus; – the manual decoration in which the enamels are placed one by one through brushes and brushes; – the general glazing that guarantees gloss with a transparent lens; – finally, the second baking at 950 degrees where all the glazes melt becoming glassy. The new technique makes it recognizable first in Italy then abroad and receives numerous awards and certificates of esteem from great personalities such as Irene Kowaliska who entrusts him with his drawings to be translated in relief. After having exhibited punctually in the great Italian fairs dedicated to the gift item such as the “Presente” in Florence and the “Macef” in Milan, the company consolidates becoming a leader in the field of ceramic relief and opens at the end of the seventies to international markets mainly exporting to the United States and Japan. Luciano Jr. and Roberto Tastardi, sons of “Luciano”, have long been dedicating themselves to the continuity of this family tradition, dealing first with corporate management, the other with artistic management. In more than twenty years they have enriched the manufacture with significant production innovations and hundreds of decorations ranging from simple souvenirs still present in the Uffizi and Colosseum shops to large-scale works.
