Maneki Neko is a cat figurine shaped to invite people with its front paws. Cats used to be good luck for sericulture in the past, because they control crops and rats that eat silkworms, but since the decline of sericulture, cats are considered good luck for business. It is said that cats with right hands (front legs) invite good luck, and cats with left hands (front legs) invite people (customers).
